INVITE DIANNA TO YOUR SCHOOL

Full-day visits: Dianna will hold up to three 55-minute sessions. Whether full or half-day, Dianna offers “Lunch with the Author” for up to 12 students, and an optional (but recommended!) book signing. She encourages librarians to schedule an in-person book signing time so she can speak personally to each child. However, she will also sign books behind the scenes to be distributed to students later. A 15-minute story time is included.

Half-day visits: Two 55-minute presentations, a book signing, and an optional lunch with the author. A 15-minute story time is included.

Single presentation: Schools in Central Texas can request a single session scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Dianna will travel up to 75 minutes from the 78133-zip code. A single presentation is limited to 2 grades. There are no travel expenses.

Travel expenses for full and half-day presentations vary by location.

In addition to presentations, Dianna is excited to announce that she will once again offer writing workshops for students in grades 2-5, beginning in March 2025!

Invite Dianna to your school! You will learn a little about a lot, from where ideas come from (the juicy behind-the-scenes stories!) to why butterflies have hairy feet to how to baby Komodo dragons keep big dragons from eating them (it’s gross!) to where in the world do people eat cooked dung beetles. In formal science, we use words like ‘adaptation’ and ‘etymology pollinator ecology.’ In her presentations, Dianna uses words like ‘poop’ and ‘ick’ when explaining seed dispersal and a dragon’s survival techniques. It is what it is.

“I am most touched by the way Dianna Hutts Aston connects with her audience. She draws students in and they leave with a sense of all the possibilities ahead of them in their life. She makes us look at rocks, seeds, shells, eggs, butterflies, beetles and even a nest, and so much more differently. What a gift we are given to notice the simplest of life’s beauty and appreciate their existence!”
Irma Flores-Brothers, educator, Northside ISD, San Antonio

“Our students were thoroughly engaged and excited during the presentation! They loved learning about curiosity, where story ideas come from, and how an idea transforms into a book. The interactive discussion and opportunity to ask questions made the experience even more meaningful. We highly recommend hosting Ms. Aston for an inspiring visit!”

"Our public library booked Dianna to present her work at several of our local school districts. Her presentations were informative, interactive, and fun for all grade levels (K-4). Dianna has a wonderful way of reading the audience and adjusting her presentation to match the energy in the room. She was professional and flexible, regardless of student behavior or technology mishaps. She treated our young patrons with kindness, answering all of their questions and engaging with them on a personal level."
